Restoring More Than Just the Body: Community Connections with Hollyhock Lane

When I first walked into Hollyhock Lane, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve taught yoga in many places—studios, locker rooms, even office settings—but a nursing home presents its own unique rhythm and potential. As soon as I arrived, there was something deeply alive in the atmosphere: a sense of welcome, an eagerness to help.

I began leading bi-weekly yoga sessions at Hollyhock over last summer. What started as a simple offering—gentle stretches, deep breathing, calming meditations—has grown into something much more meaningful. Each session is an invitation not only to release tension but also to connect: with breath, with memory, and with each other.

Hollyhock Lane Care Home has created an environment where this kind of healing can happen. The staff feels like a giant family- they actively participate, encourage, and engage. They understand that wellness isn’t a checkbox, it’s a culture. And that culture permeates everything, from the home cooked meals to the warm smiles awaiting me at the front door every time I pull in the driveway.

Teaching at Hollyhock Lane has reminded me that yoga isn’t just about relaxing the body/mind—it’s about restoring connection, purpose, and peace. This is something Hollyhock Lane offers in every aspect of its care.

If you’re looking for a place where your loved ones can thrive—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—I can’t suggest Hollyhock Lane Care Home highly enough!
